Dying in strange places since 2006
For Battle. For Glory. For Ice Cream! Tonight, a brave team of OOPS members conquered the mighty Fissure of Woe, with nothing but sheer determination, and their mighty witticisms. The plains of the Fissure were deemed to be filled with Pointed Sticks, and thus claimed as Guild Territory. Tegid and Raina were the front line of the group and engaged the enemies with their stinging quips. And sharp pointy...weapony thingies. The Burning Inferno Trio of Zanzara, Ita, and Mialynne made sure all shadow creatures were properly cooked to regulation standards. All golden eggs collected during the evening are purported to be hard boiled, and the chocolate bunnies somewhat liquid. Ita claims this was all carefully planned for tomorrow's guild breakfast of hard-boiled golden eggs with chocolate sauce which he is offering to all alliance members that have paid their OOPS tax. Also attending the FoW road trip was our fantastic ranger Garryn aka "Live Bait" and on the monkish side of things, the A team, Arzu and Alaya aka "Super Squishy Monkies". The Shadow Beasts and Abyssals were practically throwing their valuables at these adventurers, and each came away with a bursting inventory. A highlight of the trip was a Ventrilo Guest Appearance by 4 year old Rowan, an OOPSer in training. Raina was called away early, and Ita reports that his treasure earnings increased significantly in her absence. Although Raina was not able to be present for the Official Documenting Photo shown above taken at the end of the evening, a skilled artist's representation of her has been added into the picture. Truly, the likeness is remarkable. Various and Sundry Updates The Monks vs. Mesmers battle last month ended in a crushing defeat for the mesmers. The Embries has cried foul play, and demands a rematch. Further details will be revealed in the official account soon to come on the Chronicles of Auspicious Fate site. OOPS has welcomed several new members into its highly disorganized ranks! Congratulations to Raina, Mystic, and Durfaxa for being able to survive the complete chaos of this guild's recruiting process. May you increase in entropy as the guild slowly erodes your sanity. Last month's OOPS Award of OOPSness goes to Zanzara for singlehandedly fending off a bus. Though she sustained injuries in her battle, we are happy to report that she is fully recovered and ready to battle more fiends of public transportation. You go, Zan! Show them the true fury of a British grandma. |
| RoMS and OOPS Proudly Present... (19/01/08) |
If you thought the Penderwydd Wars were epic, think again.
On February 24, Rain Over Pebbles will lead a team of Monks against The Embries' team of Mesmers in the battle that will forever change the Chronicles of Auspicious Fate. It's Time to Choose Your Side. Time TBA OOPS Guildhall Space is limited so SIGN UP NOW! Other notable announcements A fond farewell to our friends in [tMC] and [PoE] who have gone to pursue a different direction. Be sure to wish them luck, and feel free to give them a shout if you ever need help with a mission or quest. We've also started bringing back our weekend Tombs/SF adventures, so keep an eye on guild announcements to see when the next one of those is going to happen. Also, wonder why you've been a member for a while and still aren't featured on our Members page? Probably because you haven't sent in a profile yet. If you want to know how to go about it, check out the FAQ at the top of the page. Lastly, though there isn't enough space to mention all the awesome people who've braved our application process and joined us since the summer, we're becoming quite the international guild and I'd like to highlight our Eurpoean contingent of Zanzara, Misty, Bob, Kira, Chuck, and Robin. OOPS is taking over more continents! Mwahaha! And the word on the street is that we might even have a theme song soon. Nothing can keep us from our lemur-assisted world domination now! |
| Comings and Goings (15/09/07) |
| It's been a busy month for the Order Of Pointed Sticks! As the title says, it's been a month of comings and goings. We'll start with the
comings since they're altogether much fun!
New Members! We've had the opportunity to welcome a number of people as part of our OOPS family this past month. First we inducted Ztnual of Israel, up-and-coming NFL prostar, then The Gourmet Bean, resident pizza expert and Caelie Fairweather, photographer extraordinaire! Then we had the excitement of adding Trassius Quill, official keeper of the OOPS Messenger Lemurs, and Mialynne Cerell, who is just awesome and doesn't need any further introduction than that. On the 'going' side we wish farewell to Carl who has gone to seek his fortune in the world of PvP guilds. Best of luck to you! Keep in touch and don't forget to join us for missions and quests! We also have an especially sad goodbye as Mortuus has gone to start a four-year term with the Canadian Armed Forces. As such, he won't be playing much Guild Wars, but hopefully he'll remember to visit us when he has time off. We miss you already, Mortuus! Don't get assigned to too many dangerous places, and come back to us safely. And back tot the comings, we've had two more guilds join our alliance! They are the Broken Face Brigade [BFB] and the Moodle Conspiracy [tMC]. It's been so fun to have them in the alliance, and we're really lucky to have such fantastic allies. The Moodles have been the subject of much commotion in the alliance lately. Want to know what this whole Moodle craze is all about? Loden from RoMS has written a series of very informative articles for the alliance front page that may serve to enlighten (but will likely just further confuse) you. Events August was kicked off by the epic Battle of the Penderwydd between Aidan and Tegid (Click here to see the event poster). It was a mighty battle fought courageously by both but in the end, it was Aidan who came out victorious, and claimed once and for all (until next time) the title of Penderwydd and High Bard of OOPS! Fyo from RoMS wrote up a fantastic article covering this event, which can be found here. This event in turn instigated an all mesmer full-out battle known as the Battle of the Penderwydd Hooligans wherein the formerly defeated Tegid gave an absorbing lecture on his stunning good looks, and teams of mesmers battled to the death. Though the Embries could not attend, many rallied for each side and Tegid led his team to victory! News coverage of this exciting event can be found here. September will be jam-packed full of events that everyone can be involved in too! Be sure not to miss the Moodle Hunt '07 on September 5th, and the Craft Contest of Craftiness and Creativity!. Those are only a couple highlights, and you're encouraged to check out the Calendar to find out when events are happening or to schedule one of your own. Does the news never end? Apparently not since this little webmistress keeps procrastinating and putting off updating the website so that when she does there's a million things to write about >_< *ahem* So......where was I? Ah yes, Teamspeak! If you're one of those people who likes to chat with your guildmates on VoIP rather than trying to type things out and inadvertantly getting killed while deciding how to spell 'sesqu-centennial' then Teamspeak is exactly what you need! It's absolutely free to download, and all you need to do is send an email to Anna from FoD to get your exclusive login info! Instructions on how to do this can be found here. Lastly, the August Pointed Stick Award goes to Drahma for gathering three generations of his family online to play GW together. Congrats Drahma! You rock! For your prize, you get the prestige of winning this vastly prestigious award! |
| OOPS joins the Chronicles of Auspicious Fate! (11/07/07) |
| I hope everyone is enjoying the new alliance! It's especially nice to get to know the people from FoD. Check the alliance page for details
on things of an alliance nature. I'd also like to point out the alliance website (Clicky clicky clicky!)
It's got all sorts of fun things, not to mention a calendar for scheduling events that has already been super handy. If you haven't checked it out yet,
you should go get signed up and post a little intro there! It's a fun place in general for any kind of mayhem, when we're not causing any
particular mayhem in-game. Oh, AND, please be sure to read the new alliance policies there, since they're slightly different than the policies of our
last alliance.
A special thanks to Mortuus for all the hard work he's put into the alliance site. It really is spectacular, and you've done a fantastic job. A quick reminder to everyone to update your profiles, since many are a bit out of date. And if you haven't yet sent in a profile, you should! Profiles are almost as awesome as ice cream. |
| A post of sad goodbyes, and new beginnings (02/07/07) |
| As some of you have probably already heard, RoMS has declared their intentions to leave our current alliance and start a new one, as they would like
to pursue a different direction for their guild. We've spent a long time discussing this, and we think that RoMS' vision is more closely
aligned to what we'd like for OOPS, so we shall be accompanying them to whatever the future holds for us. This was by no means an easy decision.
Manifest Destiny took in OOPS when we were just a fledgeling guild, and
it's been so good to be there. We have a lot of good friends in the alliance, and AG was home to our own Tegid for over a year (imagine how surprised
we were back at the beginning of OOPS last year when we formed the family guild we'd been discussing for so long and Tegid wouldn't leave AG! That's a
testament to the quality of our allies, and what fantasic people they are). Although we won't be in an alliance with many of them anymore, remember that
they're still just a whisper away, so please do add people to your friends list and keep in touch! We'll likely be leaving tomorrow evening, so
take the next 24 hours to make your goodbyes and add to your friends list.
I'll be posting a formal goodbye at the alliance forums soon. We will have a new forum for the new alliance, so check back here for details on that, and how to get signed up. Indeed, details are fairly sparse as of yet, but we'll get all your questions answered in no time! Feel free to talk to any of the officers in-game if you have any outstanding questions or concerns. We really are striving to make OOPS the best it can be, and truly believe that this decision will be best for us as a guild family. Signing off for now, Arzu |
| There's no party like an OOPS party! (01/07/07) |
| If anyone has pictures from our guild birthday party, I've created a gallery section specifically for pictures. Accomplishments of the night
included writing a giant 'OOPS' on the floor of our guild hall using our characters, and having a food-themed scrimmage where every skill used had to
somehow relate to food. You guys are totally insane, and I wouldn't have it any other way.
In comings and goings of late, I should mention that we bid a fond farewell to The Darkest Storm who has gone to help out some of his family members in their guild. We'll always be up for adventuring with you anytime, dude! And speaking of family members, our dearest and long-exiled Tegid has finally migrated over to his family in OOPS! It's been so good to have you back with us after a year of being apart! Welcome also to Dala Antra who is crazy enough to throw in his lot with the likes of us. We're really excited to have you joining us and hope that you have a lot of fun here. For events, thanks to everyone who came out to our awesome and crazy Underworld run last night! We definitely need to get more passage scrolls so we can do runs like that more often! For events this week, there's a Vizunah Hard Mode run planned for Thursday night. We'll need as many people as possible to make this work, so block off some time in your schedule if you think you can make it, and enjoy hard mode kind of things. (Note: if you haven't completed Factions on at least one character yet, you sadly won't be able to participate in hard mode.) |
| HAPPY BIRTHDAY OOPS! (14/06/07) |
| Would you look at that! Tomorrow, on June 15th, OOPS will officially have been in existence as a guild for a whole year!
It's pretty amazing to see how far we've come, after our random beginnings last summer. I'm proud of you, OOPSers, for making this an
amazing guild to be a part of! Let the celebrations ensue! Yes, you know what that means. Party! Let's meet up starting at roundabouts
7pm EST, and party till we get sick of partying! Keep an eye out for games and prizes!
It's also been a good week for us for foreign exchange. We've had a really great time getting to know our two new honourary members, Hanny from AG and Nairy from RoMS. We'll be sad to see you go tomorrow. Thanks for being such good sports and participating in this crazy guild shuffle. Even though we'll be sending you back home tomorrow, you get to be honourary OOPSers for life! We'll always be happy to meet up for missions and quests with you two. And speaking the exchange, we'll be welcoming Alaya, Hazor and Spiegel back home. It'll be good to have everyone back! Hopefully you three had a good time visiting some other guilds, and had a chance to get to know some of our allies a little better. P.S. Who left those aardvarks in the guild hall??? |
| An exciting week ahead (08/06/07) |
| Before anything else, welcome to The Darkest Storm who has added his randomness to the collective entropy of the guild
this week. We're glad to have you and hope you have a lot of fun hanging out with us!
In other fantastic news, we're participating in a foreign exchange event with the alliance this week. That means that although we have to tearfully say goodbye to some beloved OOPSers for a week, we'll have some allies from various guilds joining us as honourary OOPSers for a week! The fun starts tonight (Friday June 8th) at 8:30pm EST and runs for one week. Is that still not enough fun for you? Well, Aidan has requested a B/P run in Tombs this weekend, so Sunday night shall be the OOPS night of B/P! Hard mode, anyone? And for those who haven't submitted profiles yet, you may find that if you delay too long you'll get a profile anyways..... just thought I'd warn you ;) Till next time, brave adventurers! |
| Officerings, website updates, and so much more! (02/04/07) |
| First off, CONGRATULATIONS to Alaya, Hazor, and Nik on their promotion to officers within the guild.
As we gear up for summer, and more free time to play Guild Wars, this next generation of OOPS leaders
will be a part of making OOPS even more fun for everyone! In particular, Nik will oversee the PvP aspects of the
guild. Alaya and Hazor will....be themselves...and keep the guild supplied with ice cream.... So keep an eye on the website
as we come up with new and exciting guild events! To celebrate this exciting news, we'll be having a GUILD PARTY on Friday night! Time tba.
Next up, we want to welcome Spiegel Tivrusky to the guild! Though I know you're sad that you're still too low level to come out on large-scale guild farming runs, we'll get you caught up in no time! In more exciting news, Aidan who happens to be a writer, has given us the chance to get a sneak peek at his new novel! This is a chance you definitely don't want to miss. Click here for details! Also, a reminder that the alliance does have forums, as people tend to forget, and it's a great resource to find out things that are going on in the game, ask questions, get feedback on new builds, or just have conversations with other alliance members. Please do remember to send a PM to Fang once you sign up indicating that you're a member of OOPS so that he can give you access to our private forum section. CLICK HERE to go to the alliance forums. Last but not least, check out other updates to the site, including updated profiles! Enjoy! |
| You want news? You got it! (05/02/07) |
| New members are always so exciting! We have Sir Edge the Mighty, a longtime friend of Arzu who has come on board,
as well as Majj Steryui, accomplice (or was that comrade? Does that sound communist? Where's Deadfire when you need him) of Iron Missionary.
We're really glad to welcome both of you to the guild, and hope you have a lot of fun with our random and crazy group.
Have you been a member for a while and still don't have a profile up in our profile section? Never fear, the Profile FAQ is here! All your questions are answered, so go and take your character for a photo shoot! The last thing that you might want to know about is our new GW trend. We were sitting around in the living room one night and Seibutsu from RAWR announced, "I'm going to start a new trend in Guild Wars. This trend is going to be......finding the most inappropriate times and places to dance." The rest of us thought this was an awesome idea, and so it has begun. Dance your little hearts out, guildies. Show us to what extremes you'll go to get your groove on! |
| Exciting New Stuff! (15/01/07) |
| If you haven't noticed, our domain name has changed. We now have a domain name of our very own. Thanks Mortuus! Best guild Christmas gift ever! (ok, so maybe it was the only Christmas gift the guild got, but still...)
We also have a couple new members who recently joined. A very happy welcome to Samir Kelk and Iron Missionary! Lastly, the profile section of the website has been updated. If you haven't sent in a profile, I would encourage you to do so. I would also encourage you to take advantage of our lovely gallery for posting your awesome screenshots! |
| Welcome! by Arzu (17/12/06) |
|
Welcome to the brand new OOPS website! The gorgeous graphics you see are courtesy of Mr. Apokolypse a.k.a Aelric Blackthorn. The hosting is graciously provided by Mortuus Incendia.
It is my pleasure to announce the winners of the poetry contest we ran back in the fall. Congratulations to Nudger, Kelrin, Selene, Rogan, and Nezram (no idea what guild you're from...but I'm assuming you're an ally). The prizes you receive will be completely random, but you will get more prizes if you submitted a lot of poems. See me in game for your well-deserved rewards! |
